PILGRIMAGE TREK TO HOLY LAKES

This is a 21 days tour (10 days on trek) from Delhi to Delhi. The trek follows the ancient route of pilgrims on their annual visit to Lam Dal Lake and of shepherd’s crossing over minkani Pass (4200 m) to Chamba valley. There are superb views of Lam Dal and valley from top of the pass.

TREK GRADE: Moderate

BEST TIME:  May to June & September to November

Day 01 

Arrive at Delhi airport.

 

Transfer(By Car) to Hotel in Delhi.

Day 02

Delhi- Dharamsala

529 km

Overnight (Tourist Bus ) Dharamsala

Day 03  

Arrive Dharamsala

 

Arrive early morning in Dharamsala and check in at hotel in McLeod Ganj. Day at leisure.

Day 04

Sightseeing in Dharamsala

 

Visit Buddhist monasteries, Tibetan institutions and Bhagsu Nag temple.(By Car)

Day 05

Kangra Valley Tour

 

Visit Masrur temple, Brijeshwari Devi temple passing through the whole kangra valley. (By Car)

Day 06

Day Hike to Triund

 

Day hike for acclimatization. Back to the hotel in the evening.

Day 07

On Trek. Mcleod Ganj – Guna Devi

12 km

Beautiful walk through the mixed forest of oak, rhododendron and deodar trees. Guna devi is a small hindu temple situated in the middle of the forest. The place is famous for bird watching.

Day 08  

Guna Devi– Kareri Village (2200 m)

13 km

Kareri is a large tribal village of Gaddi shepherds. Night in forest rest house or tents.

Day 09  

Kareri – Kareri Lake (3200 m)

14 km

Steep ascent through mixed forest takes us to Kareri lake, at the base of Minkani pass. Night in tents.

Day 10  

K. Lake – Minkani Pass (4200 m) – Lam Dal Got (3500 m)

13 km

4 to 5 hours steep ascent takes us to the pass and another 2 hours down to the camping place. The pass offers a good view of the valley down. Night in tents.

Day 11

 

Got – Lam Dal Lake - Got

10 km

Lam Dal, the largest lake in Dhauladhars is off the main trail. It takes about four hours down to the lake and back up to the camp.

Day 12

 

Got – Drakund (2700 m)

16 km

Down hill walk along Lam Dal stream takes us to Drakund, a small tribal village 4 to 5 houses. We lodge in a forest rest house surrounded by apple orchards or camp in the orchard is used for night stay. We can also camp in the orchard.

Day 13

 

Drakund – Dunali – Bharmaur

 

Passing through several tribal villages in Chamba valley, we reach Dunali, the road head between Chamba and Bharmaur. From Dunali we drive(local Bus) to Bharmaur (30 km).

Day 14

Bharmaur – Hadsar – Dancho

 

Early morning visit to ancient Chaurasi Temples. After breakfast we drive(By Local Bus) to Hadsar (15 km) and trek to Dancho 8 km. Night in tents.

Day 15

Dancho – Manimahesh lake (4300 m) - Dancho

12 km

Manimahesh lake is situated at the base of Mt. Kailash.

Day 16

Return to Bharmaur and Chamba town

95 km

Trek 8 km down hill to Hadsar(Trek ends) and drive(By Local Bus) to Chamba town. Check in at hotel. Evening sightseeing in town.

Day 17

Chamba –  Dalhousie

 

Beautiful drive(By Local Bus) passing through Khajiar and Kalatop wildlife sanctuary. Night in hotel.

Day 18

Dalhousie-  Pathankot

 

After lunch drive(By Local Bus) from Dalhousie to Pathankot to catch evening train to Delhi. Night in train.  

Day 19

Arrive Delhi

 

 On arrival transfer(By Car) to Hotel in Delhi.

Day 20

Day trip to Taj Mahal (By Tourist Bus)

 

Start early morning and back to Delhi in the evening.

Day 21

Fly back

 

Transfer(By car) to international airport.
