TREK
TO LAHUL VALLEY OVER
INDERHARA PASS (4300M) AND KUGTI PASS (5040M)
A 21-day tour (13 days trekking) that begins
and ends in Delhi. We start the trek in Mcleodganj and
end at Sansa (near Keylong) in Lahul valley, after
crossing Inderhara Pass in the Dhauladhars and Kugti
pass in the Pir Panjal range of Central Himalayas.
Crossing Kugti Pass, we trek over snow, ice and a
glacier for three to four hours- physically demanding.
From Kugti Pass it is possible to see the snow capped
mountains beyond Lahul valley on one side and Mount
Kailash and Manimahesh Dhar on the other.
Rapey, the first village beyond Kugti pass,
provides an open view of Pattan, the green valley of
Lahul. We visit Hindu temples and tribal villages on the
way.

Bharmaur-Hadsar-Kugti
Nullah (2200 m)

A 13 km
drive by jeep takes us from Bharmaur to Hadsar. We
then trek to Kugti Nullah (10km). Night in tents.

Day 12

Kugti
Nullah – Kugti village (2590 m)
|

|
Kugti is
one of the most remote tribal villages of the
Chamba district. Night in forest house or tents.

Day 13
|
Kugti to
Duggi (3200 m)
|
13 km
|
The trail
takes us through the green fields of Kugti village,
to the ancient Kelang temple, worth a visit. There
is no human habitation after Kugti village. Night
in tents.

Day 14
|
Duggi –
Lahes Caves (4000 m)
|
12 km
|
Steep
ascent through shepherd camps takes us to Lahes,
the base of Kugti pass. Night in tents.

Day 15
|
Lahes –
Kugti Pass (5040 m) – Khurlu (3900 m)
|

|
Break camp
at 5 A.M. Going over snow and ice, about 5 hours,
we reach Kugti pass and magnificent views of Mount
Kailash to the south and the peaks of Lahul valley
to the north. Another three hours take us down to
our Khurlu campsite.

Rapey village

We enter
Pattan valley where Chamba’s green vegetation is
replaced by Lahul’s dry desert. Night in tents
near Rapey village.

Rapey –
Keylong
|

From Rapey
we cross the Chinab river over a wooden bridge to
reach the road head at Sansa (3km). TREK END. From
Sansa drive(By local Bus) to Keylong (40
km). Check-in at hotel in Keylong.

Manali

|
After
breakfast drive(By local Bus) to Manali
over Rohtang pass. Check-in at hotel in Manali.

Delhi

Overnight tourist
bus to Delhi.
